On May 10, the 28th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) successfully concluded.

This year's CHITEC covered 50,000 square meters and brought together more than 800 companies and other organizations from around the world. The expo unveiled 148 technological achievements, hosted 37 negotiation sessions, and saw 57 projects worth 590 million yuan signed on-site. It recorded more than 70,000 in-person visits from participants and visitors from 72 countries and regions, with the number of online views exceeding 500,000.

Several world-first core key technologies were highlighted at the expo, which are all independently developed in China in a controllable manner, with proprietary intellectual property rights.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) displayed the world's first prototype of a 100kW-class free-piston thermoacoustic power generator, whose output reaches 102 kilowatts — breaking the previous foreign record of 17 kilowatts. It enables high-efficiency, silent power generation from multiple heat sources and can be used for heating in frigid regions.

CASQI (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd presented Lingkai-1, China's first block-shaped helium-free dilution refrigerator and the country's largest dedicated cooling platform for quantum computing.

Beijing demonstrated its growing capacity as an innovation hub, with 12 districts together participating in the expo. The Dongcheng District pavilion integrated historical and cultural elements with scientific and technological innovations. The Chaoyang District pavilion introduced 18 cutting-edge technologies and innovative products. The Shunyi District pavilion drew great attention through a variety of life-friendly, industry-empowering innovations.

CHITEC also served as a platform for regional cooperation, resource sharing, and professional exchange, facilitating the development of a more efficient and connected innovation ecosystem.

The Tianjin pavilion highlighted frontier fields such as medicine and healthcare, low-altitude economy and new materials, demonstrating strengths in model promotion and achievement commercialization. The Hebei pavilion focused on fields like smart manufacturing, green development and "Dual Carbon" (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality), fully displaying its comprehensive capacity for sci-tech innovation and industrial hosting. Technology delegations from 15 provincial-level regions, including Guangdong and Chongqing, showcased their featured achievements. Enterprises from the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle also presented cross-regional sci-tech innovation achievements.

Guided by a focus on turning research results into real-world applications, CHITEC integrated exhibitions and negotiations to link innovation and industry chains, and delivered pragmatic and efficient international economic and trade cooperation. Fortune Global 500 companies including AstraZeneca and Sanofi dazzled the visitors with their cutting-edge R&D achievements in biomedicine, such as tumor immunology and mRNA vaccines. The Workshop on Low-Carbon Development and Carbon Neutrality Pathways for SCO Member States, the Training Course for Trade Promotion for Five Central Asian Countries, as well as diplomatic delegations from the embassies of Venezuela, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and other countries in China attended the expo.

The fully upgraded digital platform of CHITEC enables two-way precise matching and intelligent business matchmaking based on industrial sectors and supply-demand relations, leading to 188 linkages. It provides convenient, efficient digital matchmaking services for exhibitors and professional visitors. After the offline event, the platform will remain open to display enterprise information long-term and carry out regular matchmaking and negotiation activities. This would help make CHITEC "never-ending".
