Significance

The Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC) is a breeding ground for global digital economic development. The conference aims to establish the broadest consensus and agreements, explore new paths and discover new methods for building a community with a shared future in digital friendship from the perspective of global digital economic development and cooperation. It is committed to promoting more comprehensive international cooperation in digital economy and providing a full-stack solution platform.

Since 2021, the GDEC has successfully held three times. Beijing, together with 18 international cities, has jointly initiated the Global Digital Economy Partner City Cooperation Initiative, which is an important measure to promote the open and innovative network of digital economy among global cities and under international multilateral and bilateral frameworks.

About 2024 GDEC

The main venue of the 4th GDEC will be held at the China National Convention Center (Beijing) from July 2nd to 5th, 2024. The conference is themed at "Embarking on a New Era of Digital Intelligence, Sharing a New Future of Digital Economy". It will feature an opening ceremony and a main forum, six high-level forums, and three signature activities including Digital Economy Experience Week, Digital Night, and Achievement Release Conference. Additionally, N forums and series of activities will be organized, establishing a "1+6+3+N" activity framework to showcase digital China and Beijing's practical solutions. Top academics, industry elites, think tanks, and professional media in the global digital economy field will be invited to attend the conference, releasing cutting-edge digital technology achievements and application scenarios, conducting in-depth discussions on hot topics such as global digital governance rules and AI+, and promoting international cooperation in digital economy.

The upcoming 2024 GDEC will extend invitations to a greater number of international cities to participate in the Global Digital Economy Partnership City Cooperation Initiative. The main forum is set to feature speeches and reports from domestic and foreign experts, academicians, and enterprise representatives, thereby establishing a global benchmark for policy formulation, technological frontiers, industry trends, and application paradigms within the digital economy sector. The conference will encompass six high-level forums, focusing on digital industrialization (Internet 3.0), industrial digitization (digital transformation, Lhasa digital bridge across the Himalayas), digital governance (global digital governance, digital security), and data valorization (data elements) respectively. Additionally, thematic forums will concentrate on the data infrastructure, emerging digital and intelligent industries, new digital-real integration and digital global governance, creating N thematic forums and annual series of activities. These forums aim to offer leading enterprises, industry associations, research institutes, and other entities a platform for in-depth exchanges, pragmatic cooperation, and trend-setting.

Three Signature Activities

Digital Economy Experience Week: The 2024 Beijing Digital Economy Experience Week will closely follow the requirements of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing People’s Government and the strategic positioning of Beijing as the capital city. Through high-quality, multi-level, and comprehensive application scenarios, it aims to expand the development pattern of digital economy, deepen the application of digital scenarios, stimulate the vitality of digital consumption, and promote the enhancement of digital consumption.

Digital Night: The "2024 Global Digital Night" adheres to the concept of inheritance and innovation, combining traditional Chinese culture and modern digital technology through the latest technological means in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). It preserves the charm of traditional culture while satisfying contemporary people's needs for experiential, interactive activities and fashionable cultural consumption, presenting a unique scientific and cultural feast that integrates tradition and modernity, national style and popularity, reality and virtuality.

Achievement Release Conference:Achievement Release Conference: The "Achievement Release Conference" serves as a pivotal event during the 2024 GDEC, playing a crucial role in bridging the past with the future. It will not only comprehensively review the achievements of the 2024 GDEC but also offer a platform for agreement/contract signing, release, and awarding to cooperative institutions and enterprises, thereby setting the stage for subsequent activities throughout the year. At the same time, it will also open the prelude to the preparation of the next conference.

Overseas Session

The session in the Middle East will be set up during this year's conference to strengthen international exchanges, investment, and cooperation in the field of digital economy, explore the establishment of a pragmatic cooperation platform and long-term mechanism, jointly deepen exchanges and cooperation in urban governance, and build a global innovation network.
