The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA), also known as Beijing E-Town, is making progress across several areas of its next-generation information technology sector, including RISC-V chip architecture, operating systems for medical AI and high-performance computing infrastructure. Recent developments highlight growing collaboration across the technology supply chain, from processor design to software platforms and computing systems.
RISC-V partnership targets broader commercial applications
ESWIN Computing has signed a Gold Partner Alliance Memorandum of Understanding with SiFive, an international provider of RISC-V processor intellectual property (IP), to expand cooperation on the commercialization of RISC-V technology.
Founded by members of the team that developed the RISC-V instruction set architecture, SiFive specializes in RISC-V processor core technology. ESWIN Computing, meanwhile, has experience bringing RISC-V products to market. The two companies plan to combine their strengths to accelerate the adoption of RISC-V across applications ranging from intelligent edge devices to data center infrastructure and agentic AI systems.
The partnership builds on an established technical relationship. ESWIN Computing's EIC7700 system-on-chip (SoC) is already used in SiFive's flagship HiFive Premier P550 development board, which provides developers worldwide with a high-performance RISC-V hardware platform and has entered commercial distribution.
Building on this work, the companies intend to extend cooperation beyond edge AI into agentic AI and other emerging applications. They will explore demand for low-power, high-performance AI solutions, including those designed for agentic systems, and consider RISC-V product configurations at different levels of integration to meet varying customer requirements. The collaboration is also intended to support the wider development of the RISC-V ecosystem.
Domestic operating system supports medical AI deployment
In medical AI, UnionTech Software participated in the launch of a Medical and Healthcare World Model Appliance at the 2026 Physical AI and World Model Conference.
The appliance is designed to give medical specialties access to AI systems capable of identifying patterns, generating hypotheses, and testing them against evidence. To address the risk of hallucinations in large language models used in healthcare, the system adopts an architecture described as "Enlightenment Symbolism," combining the generative and explanatory capabilities of large models with constraints based on medical facts, data, and rules.
Running complex world models in real hospital environments requires a secure and stable operating system that can be independently controlled. The project also aims to enable hospitals to retain their sensitive data on-site while making the resulting world models available for use beyond the hospital, an approach summarized as "data stays in the hospital, while the world model can be deployed elsewhere."
UnionTech Software provides the domestic operating system foundation for the appliance. According to a company representative, UnionTech UOS offers a secure, stable and compatible environment for medical data and model applications, where privacy and data security are essential requirements.
The operating system is also designed to work with H3C's high-performance computing capabilities and the multimodal data processing capabilities of the Yashan database. This provides an environment for validating models against real hospital data and deploying specialty-specific models more efficiently, helping reduce technical barriers to clinical adoption.
Computing infrastructure companies expand regional partnerships
SuperCloud has continued to expand its engagement with regional partners through its 2026 National Partner Conference roadshow, which recently held an event in Hebei province. Discussions focused on opportunities in China's domestic information technology ecosystem and ways to strengthen collaboration among industry partners.
The company is working with regional partners to broaden the use of high-performance computing infrastructure across industries and translate computing capabilities into practical applications, a company representative said.
The roadshow has already visited Henan, Hebei, Shandong and Jilin provinces, with further activities planned across China.
Collaboration across the technology supply chain
Developments in processor architecture, operating systems and computing infrastructure point to growing activity across multiple segments of Beijing E-Town's information technology industry. As companies advance their work in these interconnected areas, cooperation between hardware, software and computing infrastructure providers is creating opportunities to move technologies from development into practical applications and support the area's broader industrial development.
