Carlos Ibanez Lab: Open postdoctoral position in Neuroimmunology

Date: 2022-04-20Source: CIBR

A research unit dedicated to research into growth factor receptor function in the nervous system and metabolism is being established at the building of Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Changping District, Beijing, during mid 2022.

Dr. Carlos Ibanez is Principal Investigator at CIBR and Professor at Peking University. Information about his research activities can be found here: https://cibr.carlosibanezlab.se

We are seeking talented and enthusiastic researchers with expertise in molecular and cellular immunology to lead studies about the effects of the immune system on the normal function of the brain and in neurodegenerative conditions, inclduing Alzheimer's Disease. The research entails studies of resident microglia and peripheral immune cells in the brain of mice with a normalized immune system in comparison to standrad laboratory mice. One set of studies will focus on the comparative effects of these neuroimmune cell populations on the overall function and maintenance of neurons in the normal brain. Parallel studies will address the impact of a normalized immmune system on the development and progression of Alzheimer's disease neuropathology using state-of-the-art mouse models of this condition.

Candidates will be accepted at the postdoctoral level with a PhD (or previous postdoctoral studies) awarded in a relevant area for the project. Strong and documented expertise in different methods of analysis (molecular, cellular, histological) as applied to studies of the immune system of mouse models is an absolute requirement for consideration. Successful applicants shall be well versed in the acquisition and analysis of data from cell sorting and single-cell RNA sequencing technologies. Applicants with additional expertise in microglia cell biology, neuroimmunology or neuroscience will be considred with higher priority. The successful candidate is expected to be sufficiently independent to formulate questions, design experiments and perform research. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are also required.

Application (with cover letter, CV, letters of reference) and enquiries should be sent to carlos.ibanez@cibr.ac.cn with Cc to hr@cibr.ac.cn. Applicants should arrange to have at least two confidential letters of reference sent independently by referees to this email address.
