The Ground-based Space Environment Monitoring Network is one of the Top Ten priority construction projects in “13th Five-Year plan”. It based on the stations distributed along the latitude of 30N, 40N and the longitude of 100E, 120E will build a well-shaped ground-based monitoring network which can cover China’s major regions. The overall framework of GSEMN includes three parts, as follows.

“One Chain”: It will also build up the capability of monitoring the whole chain from the Sun to Earth by setting up a series of advanced solar-interplanetary monitoring facilities.

“Three Networks”: The project will use different kinds of monitoring facilities to achieve the networked capability of monitoring ionosphere, atmosphere and geomagnetic field in China’s region.

“Four Focused Regions”: It will deploy the international advanced large monitoring facilities in the four key regions including the high latitude region, northern mid-latitude region, southern low-latitude region and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in order to detect the space environment subtly in those regions.
