    Ground-based Integrated Monitoring Network for Space Environment (Meridian Space Weather Monitoring Project Phase II)

    The Ground-based Integrated Monitoring Network for Space Environment is one of the ten priority projects in the 13th Five-Year Plan for National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure Construction. The project utilizes the 31 comprehensive observation stations along 100°E and 120°E and 40°N and 30°N to form "two vertical and two horizontal" ground-based monitoring network covering China. Comprehensively use multiple means of detection, including the radio, geomagnetism, optics and sounding rockets, to have the capabilities of network monitoring over the Ionosphere, middle and upper atmosphere, geomagnetism within China ("three-network"). Build large-scale and internationally advanced monitoring equipment in four key regions, including the polar region with high altitude, the northern region with middle altitude, Hainan region with low altitude and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, to carry out detailed "microscopic" exploration of the space environment ("four-focus"). Construct a series of advanced sun-interplanetary monitoring equipment to form the monitoring capability of the whole Sun-Earth space chain ("one-chain").

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, a total of 11 science and education infrastructure facilities were laid out in Huairou Science City. By the end of 2020, the main structures of 10 facilities were completed, and the basic structure of klystron platform for large-scale science equipment was completed.

By the end of 2020, 5 of the 13 cross-over research platforms in Huairou Science City have been completed and accepted, and more than 60% of the scientific research equipment has entered the field. The civil engineering of 4 platforms has been basically completed or the roof-topping of the main structure has been completed; Infrastructure construction of 3 projects has been completed; the comprehensive laboratory building and user service building of high energy photon source were started in December.

Science & technology innovation base

CAM Huairou Science and Technology Innovation Base, with a total construction area of 130,000 square meters and aboveground construction scale of 110,000 square meters, is in progress. National Lightweight Material Processing Technology and Equipment Innovation Center, focusing on the major needs of aerospace, automobile, rail transit and other fields, gathers the innovative resources in the field of lightweight material processing and carries out common key technologies research, industry incubation, standard testing and high-end talent training of high-performance lightweight alloy materials, advanced processing technology of lightweight materials, digital intelligent manufacturing equipment/line application, etc., to solve the problems of key materials, core processing technology and major equipment.

  • By the end of 2020, 18 research institutes of the CAS and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences have settled in Huairou Science City, with about 2,000 scientific researchers. The Yanqi Lake Campus of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (referred to as "UCAS") has about 10,000 graduate students. Peking University, Tsinghua University, Grinm Group, CAM, AVIC Comprehensive Technology Research Institute and other universities and central enterprises have settled in Huairou Science City. Two national manufacturing innovation centers, such as power batteries and lightweight material forming technology and equipment, have settled here. Beijing Film Academy Huairou Campus was put into operation in September 2021, with 1,400 teachers and students from 9 departments settled.
